Over this Easter weekend holidays, Storkfort Health (SH) participated in the 2023 Jwaneng Easter softball tournament as a sponsor and exhibitor. SH management and team wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of this tournament for allowing us to partake in such a noble course that is aimed at promoting health and wellness in our communities, while promoting the fight against Non- Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Recent research has shown that 46% of deaths in Botswana are due to NCDs, which are mainly exacerbated by unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, smoking and harmful use of alcohol. The most prevalent NCDs in Botswana include Hypertension, heart diseases, type-two diabetes, and several cancers.

While delivering the closing remarks during the walk for life event last year, the Minister of Health Honorable Dr. Edwin Dikoloti, stated that 95% of Batswana (Citizens of Botswana) are believed to eat unhealthy diets and live their daily lives without engaging in any significant physical activities. Storkfort Health is committed to being a key player and significantly contribute towards loosening the burden of NCDs on our health care system by promoting the fight against NCDs through sports and wellness activities.

It is against this backdrop that SH is advising the citizens and residents of Botswana to take personal responsibility for their health by eating healthy diets and engaging in physical activity by participating in sporting activities like the Jwaneng Easter Softball tournament.
